In 2013, the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair (PRSEF) will celebrate its 74th year of open competition of research projects in the fields of science, mathematics and engineering on April 5 (competition day) and April 6 (awards ceremony) at Heinz Field. This competition is open to all students in grades 6-12 from 23 counties in Western Pennsylvania, three counties in West Virginia and Garrett County in Maryland.

As the only local International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) affiliated fair, PRSEF will nominate Senior Division students to attend ISEF in 2013.
Additionally, PRSEF will nominate middle school students to attend the
Broadcom MASTERS Middle School Program held annually in October in Washington, DC.

Deadlines:

• School Registration - Nov. 15, 2012
• Student Registration - January 11, 2013 except those require pre-approval and schools with school science fairs.
• Pre-approval Projects: Human subjects, non-human vertebrate animals, potentially hazardous biological agents and hazardous chemicals, activities and devices must be submitted by November 30, 2012.
• School Science Fairs: Must contact the PRSEF office at 412-237-1534 prior to January 1, 2013 to make special arrangements.

• One copy of research paper and application March 1, 2013  
• One copy of research paper emailed March 1, 2013
• Final paperwork submission to ISEF by winners - April 9, 2013
• ISEF prep session - April 2013
